WFD Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting--Day 1

The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is a union of more than 150 countries working together for the rights and development of the deaf community throughout the world. The WFD has geographic sections, and the Asia-Pacific Region meets every year. This year the Asia-Pacific Region met in Jakarta, Indonesia from 9-11 December 2004 at the Sari Pan Pacific Hotel. The Deaf Development Program in Cambodia is tryiing to develop leadership and other skills among the Cambodian deaf people and sent two deaf people, Eng Veng Srun and Chea Sokchea, to the meeting. They were accompanied by Justin Smith, a DDP program advisor, and Charlie Dittmeier, Maryknoll's project director for DDP.
