DDP Strategic Planning
26-30 May 2008

30 May -- Day 5

This was the last of the five days of planning workshops involving the full staff. Today began with a review of the goals and major activities of the last three DDP projects not covered yesterday. Then in the afternoon the group developed a plan of action for each of the six DDP projects.

While Phirom (l), the interpreter, looks on, Bunthok (m) confers with Phanny, the planning facilitator about the wording of a suggested goal.
Ronise, Sokchea, and Maly in a conversation during the morning break.
More of the staff during the break. In the beginning the facilitator was scheduling only one break in a four-hour morning session but we persuaded him that especially for people who depend on constant visual concentration, one break was not enough.
Hourn Phanny is the lead facilitator for SEEDgt, the organization training group which led our planning workshop. He had two assistants working with him, keeping track of the materials and helping with various activities.

In the afternoon, staff of each of the DDP projects got together to develop a plan of action based on the newly prepared strategic plan. Here the interpreters speak of their goals and activities.
Charlie Dittmeier worked with the deaf sign language researchers to chart out their 2009 activities, detailing the activities, the persons responsible, and the materials needed.
One of the final activities was a problem-solving exercise, trying to balance 14 nails on the head of a nail driven in a block of wood.
