First Day of Teaching

11 January 2006

Megan watching her interpreter

Megan Youngs, who is deaf, uses an American Sign Language interpreter. Before the arrival of her formal interpreter, Megan is using Liza Clews, our program advisor and interpreter trainer.

Looking for a response from a student

Megan is working with ten teacher trainees. Today her plan was to get to know them and to start developing good communications with them. Here she watches as a student responds.

TV crew at work in the classroom

A TV crew was at DDP today to film a documentary about sign language in Cambodia, and hearing about Megan, they decided to film her also.

Leading an activity

Megan led several different activities to illustrate the difficulty of communications and the importance of different viewpoints.
