Khmer New Year--DDP Celebration

13 April 2005

Especially in rural Cambodia, the interaction of girls and boys is relatively controlled, following rather strict values and customs. Traditionally the new year celebrations have been one of the times for young men and women to get together openly to sing and dance and play games. The games, often played on the street corners at night, while listening to music, are also popular among the deaf people and were thoroughly enjoyed at the DDP celebration.
