At the end of last year, a teacher came to the Deaf Development Program looking for a job. It was a good time for Leakena to inquire, because we had another teacher ready for maternity leave and really needed a substitute. Leakena was hired and soon became a permanent and popular teacher for a special class we set up. Now because of family situations, she has had to resign and today we held a farewell for her.
