Drummers Visit DDP
28 February 2008

One of the most popular acts of the Spotlight Festival was the Koshu Roa Taiko deaf drummers. The group of eight drummers with a hearing loss performed several times and offered various drumming workshops during the week. Today they came to visit the Deaf Development Programme.

The taiko drummers perform throughout the year in Japan and have a tradition of collecting donations for deaf groups. Today they presented the Deaf Development Programme with 100,000 yen they have collected.
In addition to the money they donated, the drummers also gave us a variety of small gifts and even included some origami creations they had made, like the Viking helmet worn here by one of the DDP students.
