28 February 2008 One of the most popular acts of the Spotlight Festival was the Koshu Roa Taiko deaf drummers. The group of eight drummers with a hearing loss performed several times and offered various drumming workshops during the week. Today they came to visit the Deaf Development Programme. |
The taiko drummers perform throughout the year in Japan and have a tradition of collecting donations for deaf groups. Today they presented the Deaf Development Programme with 100,000 yen they have collected. | ||
In addition to the money they donated, the drummers also gave us a variety of small gifts and even included some origami creations they had made, like the Viking helmet worn here by one of the DDP students. |
