Meeting More People
5 May 2009

The first order of business for the visitors from Finland today was to complete the tour of the DDP office building in Phnom Penh.  Here they visit with the students in Year 1 who began their studies at DDP in January. Visiting the Year 1 classroom at DDP
Then it was up to the fifth floor to see the Year 2 class and their teacher Lika. Visiting the Year 2 classroom at DDP
Then Anja, Tiina, and Virpi began a series of meetings with other actors in the disability sector in Cambodia.  The first meeting outside of DDP was with Samphors at the Disability Action Council. Meeting at Disability Action Council
The next meeting was with Sr. Regina Pellicore, the country representative for Maryknoll Cambodia.  Maryknoll Cambodia was the local cooperation partner with the Finnish Association of the Deaf in running a previous job training project. Meeting with Regina Pellicore of Maryknoll
At lunch time we ate at Del Gusto, a pleasant little eatery near the Maryknoll office.  Virpi and Tiina enjoyed taking pictures of the surroundings while Anja appreciated the opportunity to eat outside, an uncommon pleasure at this time of year in colder Finland. Taking pictures at a lunch spot
Then the rest of the day was spent in meetings about a Deaf Community Development project which we hope the foreign ministry of Finland will support.  The meetings were held at the offices of the Catholic Relief Services which has through the years been very generous in allowing DDP to use their space. Tiina Hedrén, Anja Malm, Keat Sokly, Virpi Thurén, and Justin Smith. Meeting on the project proposal
