Job Description: Center Manager

Position:  Center Manager
Location: Kampong Cham
Project:  Deaf Community Development Project

1. Nature of the position

The nature of the Center Manager position is to plan and ensure successful implementation of the Deaf Community Development Project and its activities, and to manage the Deaf Community Center, including the hostel, in Kampong Cham. The Manager will work under the supervision of and report to the Deaf Community Development Project Manager. Supervision of other staff will be required.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

The Center Manager will be responsible for:

• Preparing project action plans and budgets for activities based in Kampong Cham
• Managing staff within the community center and hostel
• Monitoring the community outreach component of the Deaf Community Development Project
• Establishing an effective programme for new deaf people and their families in rural areas
• Working alongside the Deaf Community Center staff to implement educational and recreational activities for deaf people
• Approving project expenses and to ensure expenses are correct and appropriate
• Maintaining a national database of deaf people through the Deaf Community Development Project

3. Essential Requirements

The Center Manager should have all requirements as mentioned below:

• University degree, or extensive experience, in community development and/or management
• Experience in community development
• Good administration and organisation skills
• Be an energetic and creative person for leading staff with implementing community activities
• Professional behavior
• Good networking and interpersonal skills to build relationships with partner organisations, parents, families, and the wider community
• Ability to work well in teams, and individually, with minimal supervision
• Strong commitment to the responsibilities of the job
• Good personality (i.e., polite, flexible, and faithful)
• Ability to travel to rural areas and to other provinces
• Good command of English and computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access)
• Ability to learn and communicate well in Cambodian Sign Language and Khmer language
• Spirit of respecting other people and deaf people
• Must live in Kampong Cham
