Trip to Helsinki, Finland

September, 2005

The Deaf Development Program is sponsored jointly by the Finnish Association of the Deaf and Maryknoll Cambodia. A large part of our funding comes from FAD which gets 90% of its funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland. The Finnish Association of the Deaf is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and representatives from all its sponsored programs have been invited to attend the celebration. Chap Kim Hoeung, the DDP Program Manager, Mat Seila, one of our sign language researchers, Liza Clews, a program advisor, and Charlie Dittmeier, the Maryknoll Program Director are attending and will also participate in meetings with FAD about the future of DDP.

We leave for Finland the night of Monday, 26 September and will arrive in Helsinki on 27 September. Watch for updates from Finland!
